AGRO-S3DP: Machine Learning for Microbial Monitoring

AGRO-S3DP is a Machine learning algorithm platform for real-time airborne microbial monitoring to protect greenhouses from pest.
The solution ensures consumer trust and food safety against bacterial outbreak through biological real-time monitoring, enhanced by advanced digital tools.
Based on a novel sensors system able to detect Volatile Organic Compounds (VOC) “pawprint” of the specific microorganisms, the ML Algorithm allows AGRO-S3DP to monitor in real-time specific airborne microorganism responsible to pest infections such as Salmonella, Campylobacter, Listeria and E. coli.
Current airborne microbial control is performed by sporadic sampling in air ventilation system sent to specialized laboratories, limiting the microbial infection detection in real-time and quick efficient treatment.
Through a single automatic device, AGRO-S3DP will allow customers along the food value chain to improve their cleanness and quality protocols by identifying contamination sources quickly, resulting in microbial contamination prevention and reducing potential food recall.

AGRO-S3DP’s expectations from the acceleration programme:

  • Explore and establish the business plan of the combined solutions (devices + digital twin integration) within the agricultural sector.
  • Implement an MVP solution in the most adequate demo-site of the agricultural sector (traditional, lean-to and octagonal greenhouses, etc.)
  • Trained algorithm for at least 3 micro-organisms (e.g. Salmonella, Listeria, Escherichia coli)

DigiCirc financial support: €117,500

The financial support was used for machine algorithm testing and tests on pilots.
