BioProtos uses Black Soldier Fly (BSF) larvae to convert organic waste into valuable and sustainable biomaterials through a circular and sustainable business model.
BioProtos offers a solution for the optimization of the BSF reproduction which is one of the obstacles for BSF’s sustainability as an alternative fodder protein. To do so, a digital system for automatic monitoring and data collection of natural biological processes of BSF has been developed. The combination of biological processes with automated and digitized technology enables to control stable productivity and control the quality of the final product.
BioProtos intends to be an environmentally friendly digital industrial technology for the processing of organic waste into alternative fodder protein, through the natural lifecycle processes of the BSF (Hermetia Illucens).

The financial support was used for tests, pilots, technical improvements and for the implementation of a new factory layout to optimize Capital Expenditure (CAPEX) and production capacity of the facility.

Prize: €20,000

The project also received the first prize in its category in the pitch competition held during DigiCirc’s final event.
