EOS

“energy from the city to the city”

EOS - TURBOWIND

The solution is a wind microturbine with vertical axes especially for urban use. Therefore, it can exploit the wind in the cities and in their surroundings to produce green energy to cover part of their needs, without depending on the centralized distribution grids. The innovative turbine (TURBOWIND) combines the use of two types of vertical axes turbines: resistance (Savonius) or lift (Darrieus). The Savonius and Darrieus rotors are mounted on two different coaxial shafts with an innovative electromagnetic friction, capable of coupling or decoupling both rotors from each another. Additionally, a control system with proprietary algorithms was developed to ensure maximum power production of both rotor types responding more efficiently and faster to the turbulent and gusty wind conditions, typical of the urban environments.

EOS’s expectations from the acceleration programme:

  • Improve design skills
  • Meet development and programming experts

DigiCirc financial support:

Grant:€110,000

Since their product is a very complex one, specialized technical expertise was needed to finalize it. The grant helped them obtain those skills that are now boosting the development of their project. In addition, the specific materials and equipments necessary for the hardware part were acquired.

Prize:€10,000

The project also received the second prize in its category in the pitch competition held during DigiCirc’s final event.
